The Word-Music Continuum
The WMC flew like a phoenix from the ashes of DETOUR, bringing with them the band’s poetry oriented pieces as a base for a poetry/music trio powered by Kirk Lumpkin’s poetry & percussion, Mark Randall’s bass and Paul Mills’ guitar.
The WMC has performed at numerous poetry venues and festivals in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California and beyond, including the Bay Area Jazz Poetry Festival and the Watershed Environmental Poetry Festival in Berkeley, the North Beach Festival in San Francisco, the Lord Buckley Festival in Grass Valley and the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, Nevada.
The WMC has also performed at the Borderbend Series at Mills College, the Ecology Center Literary Series and the Poetry Flash @ Cody’s in Berkeley as well as the Cafe International Friday Night Performance Series and the Meet The Beat Spoken Word and Music series at Venue 9 in San Francisco.
